Meetings

Meetings are open to all UNES parents and caregivers. The agenda will include school topics we want to learn more about, and parent topics that will be open for discussion. Meetings will be the second Wednesday of every month. Check our social media at Facebook or Instagram (UNESPTA) for info on the upcoming PTA meeting. *Childcare will be provided.

PTA Board

What do YOU want the PTA to be and to do?

The board is who drives what we do and who we are. It means setting the stage for how we welcome new families and get parents engaged with the school and meeting other families. How can we help parents and families feel a part of our school community?

We get things done. Being part of the PTA Board also means making sure we're able to pull off each of the events, fundraisers and things we do throughout the year. Some events are very self sufficient - looking at you ASAP team and 5th grade committee! Others are more hands on until others take them on - such as the Back to School picnic and Picture Day - so we look for some help from the board members.

In addition, we each take on specific roles to help us function smoothly. The term is 2 years.

Joining the PTA is a great way to get involved in the school and to help build our community!  We welcome all parents and caregivers to apply no matter if you're new to UNES or veterans. 

President

Main responsibilities include oversight of the PTA and liaising with the administration on collaborative school engagements such as assemblies, fundraisers, events, driving decision making (mostly around how we spend money) and setting the tone of inclusivity throughout everything we do.

Also: the signature on our insurance and our bank account (together with the Treasurer)

Vice President

Together with the President - keeping track of events and assisting with them as needed, contributing ideas for how to make our PTA reflect the values and priorities of our families and teachers. Contributes to all decisions.

Recording Chair

Recording and posting notes of our meetings. Assists with events as needed and contributes to all decisions.

Communications Chair

Responsible for helping to broadcast information out to the UNES community. With our social media, website and email and printed newsletter, you will help families stay informed and connected with what is happening within the school, as well as in and around the community.

Treasurer

Background in bookkeeping, accounting, finance or love of numbers preferable. Confidentiality, communication, organizational skills required. Versatility or willingness to learn/use online applications such as Quickbooks, Squarespace, Stripe, Google apps and other banking apps.

Reconciling responsibilities include tracking funds from PTA events and other school fundraising events. Filing tax forms with NYS, paying vendors, reimbursements to parents & teachers, etc. in a timely manner.

Assists with events as needed and contributes to all decisions.
